A stairlift can have a huge impact on life and your way of living. If you are struggling to move around your home and this lack of mobility is a real issue and a hindrance, then you might benefit from a stairlift.
Buying a stairlift can be expensive. If you really need a stairlift but can’t afford to buy one on your own then you might be wondering, can I get a stairlift for free?
Can I Get A Stairlift For Free?
Whether or not you can get a stairlift for free will depend on your circumstances. You can apply for grants that will help you buy a stairlift if you are struggling to purchase one.
There is no set amount of what you will be given for the grant, and it will depend on several different factors including your location, income and how badly you need a stairlift.
You might not get enough money to cover the stairlift and there is no way we can guarantee you can get a stairlift for free. You can, however, be given money to go towards the overall cost of a stairlift which can make purchasing one a lot easier for you.
If you live in England, Northern Ireland or Wales then you can apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant through your local council.
Disabled Facilities Grant is a means-tested grant so it’s possible you may not qualify, or if you do qualify, the grant may not cover the entire price of the stairlift.
When you apply for the grant you have to be able to prove that you do live in the property and plan to live there for at least the next 5 years. The council will assess whether installing a stairlift is “necessary and appropriate” for your needs.
Rules and restrictions change for every council so you will need to check what the requirements are for your area and see if you meet them. There is no set amount of money you can be allocated and again it can vary depending on the area.
Are There Cheaper Alternatives To Buying a Brand New Stairlift?
We understand that a stairlift can have a huge impact on your life and on your quality of living. No one should have to go without a stairlift if they really need one.
If you can’t afford to buy a brand new stairlift but know you really need one, then there are cheaper alternatives to buying brand new stairlifts.
A reconditioned stairlift is a stairlift that has been preowned. When someone no longer needs their stairlift they can donate or sell it back to us so that we can recondition it and sell it for a lower price than a brand new stairlift, making it a cheaper option for those who cannot afford to buy a brand new stairlift.
Are Reconditioned Stairlifts Safe?
Reconditioned Stairlifts are completely safe. Our team of professionally trained engineers put every stairlift through rigorous testing to make sure your new stairlift will still run smoothly and safely.
Your comfort and safety is always our top priority when installing your stairlift, whether it's reconditioned or brand new, purchased or rented. We understand that a stairlift is something you are going to be using every day and maybe something you rely on.
